Aerospace engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the design, development, and maintenance of aircraft, spacecraft, and related systems such as propulsion, navigation, and guidance. It is a multidisciplinary field that combines principles of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, and computer science to create and improve technologies related to the aerospace industry. Aerospace engineers work on the development of new aircraft and spacecraft, as well as the improvement of existing ones. They also work on the design and testing of aerospace systems, including propulsion systems, guidance and control systems, and structural components. Aerospace engineering can be divided into two main branches: aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering. Aeronautical engineering deals with the design and development of aircraft that operate within the Earth’s atmosphere, while astronautical engineering deals with the design and development of spacecraft that operate outside the Earth’s atmosphere.
